A talk by Tata Lopera surrounding Ricardo León Peña-Villa. Peña-Villa was born in Medellin, Colombia in 1962. He always aspired to be part of the cultural scene in NYC, and he moved to
the Lower East Side in 1990. He made frequent trips to Jackson Heights, Queens to bond with the local Colombian community, where he also shared his poetry and ideas. As a writer, Peña-
Villa had seven books published, most of them collections of poems and short stories. His last book, “Gardel Vive en Guarne,”
was his first novel.
