“Esto se puso color de hormiga” Hilarious Spanish Improv skits based on theatrical and improv games, that are moderated through a referee who presents the actors that will compete for the honor of becoming the winning ant.

The LatinX Playwrights Circle will present DIQUE’, which is a series of monologues exploring anti-blackness within the Latinx community in a Diversity and Inclusion Training setting. Written by Ren Dara Santiago, Christin Eve Cato, Justin Santory, Alisha Espinosa and Nelson Diaz-Marcano.

Capoeira basics with New York Capoeira Center. Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics, and music. It was developed by enslaved Africans in Brazil at the beginning of the 16th century.

Monday, August 24th

CantaEspañol is a program designed for  children from 6 months to 4 years old. Through songs, musical games, puppets and movement, your child will be totally engaged in the Spanish language. In addition, these interactive activities will serve to develop self-expression and social skills. Conducted completely in Spanish, the CantaEspañol class will introduce Spanish into your child’s life in a lively and super fun way!

You’ll need two spoons and a plastic bowl. Be ready to have fun with your child!. If you have any other toy instruments at home you are welcome to use them!. The active participation of a caregiver, parent or grownup is the key to support the success of the development of your child. You are the most important teacher of your loves ones.

Cadavre Exquis or Exquisite Corpse Drawing workshop – Join Clemente´s artists Linda Griggs, Allen Hansen and Tine Kindermann for a Cadavre Exquis workshop. This mind loosening, fun and adaptable surrealist game can be played in bars and cafes or taken as a serious studio practice.

Requirements – 3 or at least 2 people together in safe distance, pencil, paper and optional additional collage materials such as magazine images and glue if desired.  

Children are welcome to participate with the understanding that the organizers can not control the images drawn by other participants and not all imagery may be appropriate for children.

The Drilling Company’s Shakespeare in the Parking Lot Shakespeare Celebration! A  safe  socially  distant  offering  from Shakespeare  in  the Parking  Lot   of  some  classic  Shakespeare  scenes  and  monologues  reminding  us  of  the  joy in  one  another   in  these  unusual  times. Featuring  scenes  from Midsummer  Night’s  Dream, As You Like It, Hamlet  and  more by  The  Drilling  Company core  who  have  kept  the  LES  alive  with  Shakespeare  for  25 years.
