December 6–7, 2025 | Free Family Event Celebrating Latiné Creativity and Culture

New York, NY — Dec. 1st, 2025 — The wait is almost over! This weekend, Teatro SEA and the Hispanic Federation proudly present the 12th Annual El Barrio Children’s Film Festival, taking place Saturday, December 6, and Sunday, December 7, from 1–4 p.m. at Teatro SEAThe Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural & Educational Center in the Lower East Side.

This year’s edition features two days of free family programming, showcasing a vibrant selection of films from across Latin America that inspire imagination, cultural pride, and joy. From animated shorts for young viewers to thought-provoking stories for older children, the festival continues to celebrate the diversity, creativity, and resilience of the Latiné community through the power of film.

“We are so happy to welcome back the El Barrio Children’s Film Festival to Teatro SEA.” said Dr. Manuel A. Morán, Founder and Artistic Director of Teatro SEA. “It is essential for us to continue offering wholesome entertainment and Latiné programming for our children and community—stories that reflect who we are, our culture, and the joy of seeing ourselves on screen.”

“With the uncertainty, disruption, and chaos we have all experienced over the last years—especially our kids—continuing this great tradition is more important to us than ever,” said Frankie Miranda, President of the Hispanic Federation. “All who watch these films will walk away with a sense of pride, empathy for those whose life experience is different than our own, and love for our Latiné culture, our language, and our identity.”

“We are committed to continuing showcasing films that reflect the strength of our community and its diversity,” added Nicole Betancourt, Festival Director. “The filmmakers this year have been extremely generous in sharing their works that speak about love, dreams, unity, justice, and resilience. Let’s celebrate the strength of our community together!”

The festival offers free admission with no registration required, making it accessible to all families in the community.
