The outdoor festival highlights Trans–Caribbean culture and identity across artistic forms with “Archipelago of Culture” theme.
New York, NY – Teatro SEA’s annual festival of Latin American arts and culture, Arte Pa’ Mi Gente/Arts for All, returns to the outdoors this August. Organized by the leading Latino bilingual arts-in-education theater for families and youth with support from The Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center, the festival brings together a lineup of artists across disciplines for three days of free family celebrations. This year’s festival theme is “Archipelago of Culture,” highlighting the importance of island culture and Afro-Caribbean artistic traditions.
“The arts are for everyone. From dance to theater to music, art empowers communities and connects us to our varied histories and traditions,” said Dr. Manuel Morán, founder, CEO and artistic director of Teatro SEA. “Arte Pa’ Mi Gente is a love letter to Latin American trans-caribbean culture and a chance for New Yorkers to experience diverse art forms together across generations and backgrounds.”
“An archipelago is both a literal fact and a beautiful metaphor for the varied intersecting traditions and art forms from the Caribbean islands that all come together here in New York City, from the rhythmic legacies of Cuba to the cinematic scene from Vieques, Puerto Rico,” said Libertad Guerra, Executive Director of The Clemente Center. “This edition of Arte Pa’ Mi Gente Festival celebrates the distinct and shared heritages of the Caribbean and their overall contribution to our city’s artistic identity.”
The three day festival is free to the public and will include a series of outdoor performances, workshops, films, and concerts, designed for families and across age groups. Featured guests include a workshop led by Dr. Drum, director of BombaYo, a musical group that ignites the ancestral rhythms of Bomba, an African derived music and dance tradition developed in Puerto Rico, a film screening matinee by Vieques Film and Human Rights Festival and La Gloria, a Latin Cabaret featuring Mestizo, and the workshop activations from The People’s Bus civic engagement initiative by artist Yazmany Arboleda as the newest destination point of La Plaza at The Clemente. Teatro SEA will also present outdoor performances of its original puppet theater production Cesar Chavez and the Migrants.
Arte Pa’ Mi Gente is an annual event that fulfills Teatro SEA’s mission to make art accessible to underserved audiences. The outdoor theater offers an open-air family friendly environment, with all outdoor performances free for the public. This festive environment includes an arts fair with individual artists and local gallery sellers, food vendors, and artesanía caribeña (Caribbean cultural arts & crafts).

Arte Pa’ Mi Gente
El festival destaca la cultura e identidad latinoamericana y caribeña, a través de formas artísticas, con el tema “Archipiélago de Cultura”
Nueva York, NY – El festival anual Arte Pa’ Mi Gente, de arte y cultura Latinoamericana, de Teatro SEA, regresa al aire libre este agosto. Organizado en el Clemente Center por el mismo destacado teatro latino, el festival presenta un catálogo de artistas de varias disciplinas durante tres días de celebraciones familiares gratis. Este año, el tema del festival es “Archipiélago de Cultura” recalcando la importancia de la cultura de las islas y de las tradiciones artísticas Afro-Caribeñas.
“Las artes son para todos. Desde la danza hasta el teatro y la música, el arte empodera a las comunidades y nos conecta a nuestras variadas historias y tradiciones,” dijo el Dr. Manuel Morán, fundador, CEO y director artístico de Teatro SEA. “Arte Pa’ Mi Gente es una carta de amor para la cultura latinoamericana y es una oportunidad para que los neoyorquinos puedan experimentar las diversas expresiones del arte juntos, tras generaciones y descendencias.”
“Un archipiélago es tanto un hecho literal como una bella metáfora para las variadas tradiciones y formas artísticas procedentes de las islas caribeñas, que han llegado a vivir juntas aquí en la ciudad de Nueva York, desde los ritmos de Cuba hasta el cine de Vieques en Puerto Rico,” dijo Libertad Guerra, Directora Ejecutiva del Clemente Center. “Este año, el festival Arte Pa’ Mi Gente celebra estas distintas y compartidas herencias caribeñas y sus contribuciones a la identidad artística de nuestra ciudad.”
El festival, de tres días, es gratis al público y ofrecerá una serie de presentaciones al aire libre, talleres, películas y conciertos diseñados para familias y grupos de todas las edades. Los invitados incluyen: un taller liderado por el Dr. Drum, el director de Bomba Yo, un grupo musical que traerá los ritmos ancestrales de la Bomba, la cual es una música Afro-derivada con una tradición de danza desarrollada en Puerto Rico; proyección de películas por el Festival de Cine y Derechos Humanos de Vieques; La Gloria, un cabaret Latino, por Teatro SEA con la participación del grupo Mestizo; y talleres por parte de la iniciativa de participación cívica de The People’s Bus, con el artista Yazmany Arboleda como el punto de destinación más nuevo de La Plaza, en El Clemente. Teatro SEA también hará presentaciones al aire libre de su producción original de títeres César Chávez y Los Migrantes.
Arte Pa’ Mi Gente es un evento anual que cumple la misión de Teatro SEA, de hacer el arte accesible para audiencias desfavorecidas. El teatro al aire libre ofrece un ambiente familiar, con presentaciones gratis al público. Este ambiente festivo incluye una feria de artes con artistas individuales y vendedores de galerías locales, vendedores de comida y artesanía caribeña.
